Candy Sickness

All day Amber and I were hyping up Audrey for trick or treating and so when the bell rang she was so excited to see who it was. However, the first trick or treater was a boy in a bloody scream mask. Audrey's face dropped when she saw him and it immediately traumatized her. For about 20-30 minutes afterwards the door bell would ring and she would claw into Amber terrified. She kept saying 'scared, scared.' Then we would tell her that the scary guy was gone, and she'd say, 'scare gone, scare gone.' It was very sad. Eventually we got her to go ouside and she ended up going around the block like all the other little kids.

My job for the night was handing out candy. I put a chair on the porch and held the treat bucket. Unfortunately, for my tummy, I was eating the candy as I was passing it out. Now I feel like I'm going to vomit. Halloween's not as fun as it used to be.

Paint Project

In honor of Halloween I decided to change my looks a bit...

Don't worry nothing is permanent.

3D NiGhTmArE

"I cant believe my eyes I must be dreaming. Wake up, Jack, this isnt fair. What is this?!"

I saw 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' tonight. They had it playing in 3D at the theatre. Not only, were the glasses pretty sweet, but the movie wasn't so bad either.

MMMMEEEERRRRYYY Christmas

I know it's a little early for a Christmas list, but I'm posting one anyways. Audrey came home from Grandma Facer's with the most annoying singing dog. He sings Christmas songs, or more like a pop version of a Christmas song that doesn't yet exist but soon will. Anyways, the point is I think this stupid dog is getting me into the Christmas spirit. So here's some pictures of things I would put on my list.

One white corduroy backpack... 29.95

One seafoam green Ipod shuffle... 79.99. I would actually prefer the nano but it's a little more expensive, so I'm willing to compromise.

A digital camera of some sort...100-150.00. For example.

A pair of corduroy mittens... 4.95 at sierratradingpost.com

By the way the singing dog has gone off about 7 times since the beginning of this blog entry and I have realized that the song is "you make me wanna shout.... don't forget to mail me cookies.' Someone please blow this dog's head off.

Random Thoughts

Here are some random questions I found on a website. I clearly had nothing better to do...

Did Yankee Doodle name the feather, hat, town, or his pony Macaroni?

If masochists like to torture themselves, wouldn't they do it best by not torturing themselves? and if so, aren't we all masochists?

Can blind people see their dreams?

If Milli Vanilli fell in the woods, would someone else make a sound ?

What do you say when someone says you're in denial, but you're not?

Finally...

After two failed attempts at getting my VA license the third time was a charm. It's so much easier when you actually have all the correct documentation. It was almost too easy and too good to be true. I felt like jumping for joy when the lady said, 'can you please read the top line for me.' I read it so fast I don't think she even knew I was reading it until I finished. That's right people... look out I can finally drive again. Sweet freedom.

Music Makes Me Happy

This is one of my favorite songs, and bands (Incubus-I wish you were here.) Every time I hear this song it makes me happy. I also really like this one too. (Copeland- You Have my Attention)

The Darjeeling Limited

I really enjoy going to the movies. Tonight I went and saw the new Wes Anderson movie The Darjeeling Limited. Adrian Brody, Owen Wilson, and Jason Schwartzman play three brothers who journey through India by train to nowhere in particular. If you've seen The Royal Tenenbaums it's similar in the fact that both stories are about family and building relationshps that struggle to exist. Although, this seems like a heavy subject it's very lighthearted, and that's probably why I liked it so much. A bonus was that I had the theatre to myself so I felt like I was getting my own private viewing. I'm not very good at describing movies so if this entry intrigues you I suggest you just trust my judgement and go see it yourself.

Dude I got a Dell

Today Amber and I went to Michael's (the craft place) and picked up some yarn. Since I've become familiar with knitting I figured I'd buy some of my own knitting needles and cool yarn. My plan is to knit a laptop cozy for the new laptop I have been waiting for. Sure enough when we arrived back home a package was waiting for me!! So, now I have my new computer and I have a new project. Next step is my Virginia license...

Chunk time

The holiday chunk is getting near... when I say chunk I mean Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
Halloween will be interesting. I have a Navy jumpsuit. Yes, it is the color navy but it's also an authetic Navy (as in the US NAVY) jumpsuit. So, that's what I'll be wearing. I wore it last year, but I figure since I live somewhere else now I can reuse it.

As for Thanksgiving I will be spending it in Boston. I bought my plane ticket last night. Nov. 15-25th. A nice long vacation. It should be fun. I'll stay with Sam, and a couple of our friends our coming up from AZ and VA to eat lots of good food. Sam reserved the party room!

Christmas may be too far away to mention so I'll keep you updated as it nears. Same with New Year's. But, the plan is to be in Kansas for those two holidays.

Wedding Bells

Amber and Ryan had a wedding to go to last night, but at the last minute I ended up taking Ryan's place because he wasn't feeling so hot. It was Amber's friends Misty and Tim.

The food was amazing! The caesar salad was wrapped in a parmesan shell with an edible orchid. Then for the main course was salmon with mashed potatoes and veggies. I'm definitely not a seafood person but the salmon was excellent. All in all it was a fun night. Table 3 was the place to be (our table...duh.)

Witchy Woman

Ok.. okay!!! So I know that this is my third post of the day but you guys have to see Ms. Audrey's new Halloween costume. She did have a turtle costume but Amber decided to switch her into this cute little witch one.

Knitting

It was bound to happen. Sure enough Amber talked me into knitting. I thought it would be hard, but it's not. I even completed my first project. It's a cell phone cozy. Ha. Amber and I both made one. This is a picture of the one I knitted. Amber's is red and mine is this blue-green-yellow one, and they're both FABULOUS!

Octoberfest

October is here. That means cold weather, apple cider and halloween! Yesterday Grandma Facer took Audrey, Amber and me to her local Pumpkin Patch. This place was incredible! It was like a carnival. Slides and animals everywhere! We went on a tractor ride, ate ketel corn (mmmmmm,) and slid down slides. I think Amber and I enjoyed the slides just as much as Audrey... Here are some fun pictures.

Dear Old Friend

For some reason, today I began thinking about an old friend I used to have. Her name was Abigail Green. Abby lived next to the house that was directly behind mine. We had a gate in our backyard that led to the neighbors and she had a gate to her backyard. So, every day we would play together. Going in and out of the neighbor's yard to get to each other's. We would climb trees all day. I remember once attaching a hammock to the tree in the neighbor's yard the one adjoining mine and Abby's. They didn't mind, or if they did it didn't stop us anyway. We would climb the tree and take turns in the hammock for hours. Any game we could think of we would play it. Titanic was this game where we would pretend we were on a ship and eventually it would crash. We would use beanie baby's as our other passengers on the boat. We played Titanic in Abby's backyard on her swing set. That swing set was awesome. It had a crow's nest... you know one of those platforms up top with a ladder and everything. We also played Titanic on her deck and patio. Lots of make believe took place in that backyard. We used to jump on my trampoline every day in the summer, and in the winter we would put on multiple layers of socks and tie plastic bags around our ankles. Sometimes we would move the trampoline closer to my patio and jump off the awning onto the tramp. Abby was my BEST friend and I was hers. She was like a sister to me. My family was hers and hers was mine. We were inseparable. We'd tip couches over and make them into forts. Hanging blankets over the tops and stacking as many pillows as we could find. She even helped my mom and I pick out our dog Tucker from an animal shelter. I remember her and I trying to come up with names we could name him.. like Noodle. Ha. Eventually we decided to stick with his original name. We made a secret fort in her basement once. It was our secret club. I'm sure we had a name for it, but I can't remember. We hung up sheets on the walls to make it look nicer and stocked it with stuff animals. O man, I just remembered... we used to make videos too. We had a series about these superheros. Cow and Chicken. She was Cow and I was Chicken. Her special weapon was a marker... and she called it her SUUUUper Stench. I don't think my chicken character had a special power, but I do recall wearing a ponytail on top of my head and doing a dance to "bawk bawk chicken chicken bawk bawk chicken head" (some rap song that farrah probably introduced us to.) We used to sing songs to her dog Pete. They went someting like, "Petey Wetey. You are the cutest puppy wuppey. I love you Petey." I could probably write a book about mine and Abby's friendship, but I'll stop here. I just felt like reminiscing about the good old days. Back when we were both so innocent. Abby goes to KU now and is all grown up. But, I'll always see her as the little sister I never had. She made my childhood fun and exciting. We went on so many adventures together and I'll never forget her. I love you Abigail Green, wherever you are.

Why I love Kansas

Unfortunately I don't have pictures to prove it so you'll just have to take my word on it. But, I spent this past weekend in Kansas. No matter where I travel or live Kansas always feels like home. I am amazed at how well my parents have kept the house up. All the little improvements have really added up and the house looks awesome and still feels as cozy as ever... even though the bed wasn't. I got to see Tucker (the dog,) my amazing mom and dad (we went to the renaissance festival,) Elena (dinner and the mall,) and Pete (when Elena and he drove me to the airport on Sunday,) Dondi, one of my best friend's Heather, her baby Brooke, Mollie, Bobby, Nick and some other really awesome people. All in all it was a good trip. I was sad to leave but happy that I had the chance to go at all. I wish I could have been able to spend more time with my family. I love all of you and I wish I could have spent more time just sitting around relaxing and talking. Anyways, I'm back in VA now, but you are all the reason why Kansas will always be home to me.

The Craft Fair

Amber's interests have really started to rub off on me. She's really into all crafty things. Knitting mostly... so yesterday we ended up going to the Crafty Bastard's craft show in DC.

The weather was faaaaaaaaaaabulous. 70's with a nice breeze. It was awesome. There were tons of vendors selling everything from hand made jewelery to tshirts to stuffed animal monsters. I ended up buying a couple of things. I got this awesome reversible headband and another present for someone... you'll find out this weekend. Anyways it was really fun to get out and experience something exciting in DC.
